Update and Review

Hooray! The computer gods were on my side and I was able to sign up for this year's Race to Robie Creek Half Marathon! As soon as 12:00:01pm hit I started signing up. Due to errors and slow processing time I finally got a confirmation at 12:11. My official time on my receipt was 12:04pm. Lots of people attempted to sign up just minutes after noon and didn't get in so I was lucky! I am so excited to be running my first half marathon with some of my good friends! Any running tips from experienced half marathoners?

I have a 10k on Saturday! The Les Bois 10k Train Run, it is suppose to be a challenging course with some hills. I am excited to run it but a little worried because my ankle has been giving me some problems lately. Judging by how it feels on my runs during this week will dictate if I run it.

The wonderful people at Vitacost sent me a box full of products to try. Just check out this variety (picture below). I received many high protein products, some organic season salt, and laundry soap.

My favorite was this super yummy Promax Fit 'n Crisp Protein Snack Cinnamon Crunch. It was basically like a cinnamon rice crispy treat. Seriously it was way too good to be called healthy.

Another favorite was these Pretzels Sticks. They are covered in cinnamon, all natural ingredients and gluten free even! My kids loved them!

The Kind bars were fantastic and perfect on the go snack. I preferred the coconut and almond bar but that is because I have a serious obsession with coconut. The cranberry and almond was good too. In reality there is not a Kind bar that isn't fantastic!

Do you have any races that you are running this weekend or training for?

Boo I'm Sick!

This week was kind of a rest week for me. I did run, I did plank, I did work on my abs. I did do things but I didn't do as much as if I was feeling awesome. I have a horrible cold and my husband will agree, I am kind of whiny while sick. Instead of a 7 mile run, I ran/walked 5 miles. Instead of a 3 mile run, I ran 1.5 miles at PR pace. I just wanted to get done with my run as fast as I could! Instead of 4 miles, I ran 2 miles. You get the idea! Even though I am still feeling not completely better I scheduled to meet up with a friend for an 8 mile run on Tuesday. She is faster than my normal pace so I am excited to see if I can keep up! I am excited to continue to increase my mileage and hopefully pick up the pace!

Also tomorrow is a huge day for me! It is the day that I will hopefully sign up for my first half marathon. Hopefully because the race sells out in less than 10 minutes and the website typically crashes. Send good vibes that I am able to sign up for the Race to Robie Creek.

I did get an awesome box from Vitacost with some wonderful products. Look for a review later this week after I am able to try out a few more products!

Fun Challenges!

It is no secret that I love a good daily challenge or even month long ones. Currently I am doing a few and sometimes it is hard to keep them all straight. Here is the ones I can remember and why I am excited about them off the top of my head. #NoMoreGirlyPushups - I am so excited about this one!! About 6 months ago I decided I wanted to give my arms a good workout and what better way than with the 100 push-ups challenge. I was doing great then the Frosty Fitness Challenge happened and after doing about 550 "normal" push-ups in a week I didn't want to do any pushups for a good long time. Unfortunately I waited too long to get back on the push-up wagon and I need another challenge to help motivate me. It worked out perfect that I discovered the No More Girly Push-up challenge! For more information on that click here

I plank, a lot!! Like every day!! Like everyday for the last 37 days straight! I do at least one #PlankADay every day. When I discovered Erika's Killer Core Plank Challenge for the month of February I couldn't see why I shouldn't do the challenge! The challenge is simply, plank at least five times a week and report back your times. It's about accountability and fun! Click here for more info!

I am also doing an ab challenge. Abs By April (the month, not a person). I love it! It is put on by Run Like A Grl and she emails that weeks exercises with fun pictures on how to properly do the exercises. She even had a great post on abs being made in the kitchen. I love it, so far I know that the exercises are getting easier to perform so my abs must be getting stronger.  I will be sure to keep you updated on my progress! Click here for more info!

Also my own personal favorite is my half marathon training schedule! I love love love this challenge and it is a challenge! Finding the time between working, being with my kids and trying to find time when my husband can watch our kids is no easy task! Today after work, while my husband was watching the kids and making dinner (he is awesome) I was able to meet up with two friends and do a 7 mile run. We did awesome and I am so proud of us as this is the longest distance that any of us have ever run. I am so excited to become a half marathoner in April and even more excited that I get to train with some great friends!

Do you have any challenges that you are doing? What's your favorite?
